Wataru doesn't seem to have any self-confidence and is uncertain about being successful when it comes to being able to perform magical feats. Vanitas, of course, decides to chime in. That's where things take an odd turn. Instead of being insulted, Wataru is encouraged. This throws Vanitas off and their entire conversation spirals into territory that probably should be left alone.
Vanitas attempts to break his mirror. Aymeric forcibly pulls Vanitas away, considering the act dangerous towards himself and others. He has other ideas on how to redirect that anger. Unfortunately that "redirect" seems to be hoisting Vanitas off of the ground an into his arms. Vanitas doesn't know how to feel about this...
While following Aqua around, Vanitas naturally gets into an argument with her. She learns a few things about him, but ultimately the two can't see eye to eye on anything. Vanitas departs scoffing at how naive she still is.
Sparring. Sparring for Caspar, anyway. Vanitas has too much energy that he needs to rid himself of. Caspar is willing so why not? Things don't really go as well as planned...
While passing by, Vanitas hears a story being told of Light and Darkness. Interested, he talks to the storyteller himself. Emet-Selch and Vanitas speak about Light and Dark and broken things that should be whole once more.
The two halves meet for a second time. Ventus still remembers nothing and Vanitas isn't so keen on wanting what he believes to be Ven's pity. Kind words does not mean that Vanitas is going to just bond with his other half. He just wants to be left alone.
The Dark Knight meets Darkness in the form of a brat that is just taking his frustrations out on the people of this world in general. She doesn't approve, of course, but that doesn't stop her curiosity from taking hold. Vanitas is only too happy to feed into that so she stops attempting to get him to quit.
A conversation about the nature of people. And mold, apparently. Now that Vanitas knows the source of what is ailing this world he... Will do nothing, of course. He ponders on the nature of this mold while Endiku sees fit to question his feels on friendship.
Both Vanitas and Emet-Selch share very similar opinions on the nature of people and the Darkness that lurks in their hearts. They also converse about the nature of those that fight for the Light and how blind they really are to their own double-standards. All this occurs while people are suffering around them and neither seem inclined to lift a finger to help.
Aqua suspects that Vanitas is up to something. While not entirely wrong, she is mistaken about his goals and intentions. He spills the beans about Ventus bothering him. Aqua believes him to be lying and they go back and forth about things until Vanitas just gets bored.
The first one to make an actual suggestion that isn't "just make friends" for a change. The idea to use some sort of enchantment to deceive his other half to leave him alone has some merit. There is also a discussion on the nature of the problem with Vanitas and his other half.
She doesn't understand why Vanitas doesn't simply kill him. To not do so seems like cowardice to her. While Vanitas would entertain the idea, he doesn't wish to do so unless he knows for certain Ventus isn't needed. She then says something curious about her own nature...
This is a man that Scathach had been talking about. He speaks of fighting it out with a man that is also a version of himself. It's an interesting tale and then it is suggested to Vanitas that he should just fight Ventus. Maybe an understanding could be reached. He requests that Vanitas does so and then tells him out it goes.
At first Papyrus insists that Vanitas should just accept that he needs friends - maybe not Ventus, but someone. When Vanitas refuses, he doesn't push the idea but does come up with something interesting. With all of the magic here, why doesn't Vanitas go to the coven with his problem? There's a thought...
She is the one that approaches Vanitas about dancing. So that's what they do, they dance. There's dancing and talking and in the end? When Aqua wants to know how he is, he waits until the song is over. An enraged Aqua attempts to attack him, but Vanitas is too quick and just escapes into the crowd, damage done.
When the little gifts feel more insult than blessing, Vanitas nearly runs the man down. The two of them start to bicker, Vanitas uncaring about an apology and Emet-Selch's pride unable to let it go. Things get pretty nasty, wounds exposed with harsh words. Both take it too far.
Snowball fight and some Warrior and Ascian flirting. After the snowball fight ends, all three go inside and get warm. They start to exchange stories about their respective worlds/star. Vanitas learns just as many things about Emet-Selch and Mira as they do about him. He is just as curious about how their star works as they are about him. There's plenty of snark, stores, and feelings in this thread.
What starts off as a search for Van's Flood turns into a discussion of hobbies. Apparently one of Thancred's is singing. Vanitas doesn't really know what he has signed up for here...
These two really aren't getting on so well. Aqua is convinced that Vanitas can turn his life around. She makes it sound so easy and talks as if it is some desirable thing that Vanitas wants. Of course he can't make it so easy for himself and therefore has to take it out on someone.
Talking about the results of the fight between Vanitas and Ventus. Cu doesn't really have more advice to offer, not that Vanitas would probably take it at his point. Instead Vanitas is just resolved to take things as they come.
Marie shows some concern about Vanitas and his vagabond lifestyle. Vanitas would prefer her to stay out of his business. However she insists on sticking her nose in it. Even wants to talk to Ventus! Then Marie has the audacity to want him to learn self love and care. He feels a little cornered.
Food sampling turns into another discussion about Vanitas and a past that he doesn't remember. It reminds Emet-Selch of the people who were first sundered. Once again both of them just don't seem to understand why people strive towards the Light and go out of their way to shun Darkness.
A little more in-depth conversation about some of the things that Marie was telling Vanitas. He shows a slightly vulnerable side to Mira. She invites him to stay with her and the others. Vanitas agrees.
They really can't have a conversation without poking some at one another. Then there's a discussion of how Bonds feel that carries on into the pragmatism of how the Ascian created empires.
Conversation that occurs upon first meetings. Vanitas explains some of the more hostile intentions of the natives and Sypha wishes to attend the trial.
Sora's arrival marks the end of Vanitas going without a Bond. Being sick and near the end of his ability to do without, Sora and Mira both encourage Vanitas to at least let them help him.
Vanitas has no issues with Roxas. Just his face. They aren't really too different, borrowing a look from another. However they cannot understand one another's positions.
Sometimes it doesn't matter how old memories are. There's always a few that come back to haunt us. Even in our dreams. Fortunately for Vanitas, there is at least one person that wants to help him through it.
Looking for information can sometimes be hard. Finding some sort of dietary guide even harder. Meeting Metatton? ...Eh. Vanitas might do without, thanks.
There are stars dancing across the sky and Sora wants to see them. That means Vanitas has to see them too. Is what he receives for his efforts worth it or not?
The woman catches Vanitas in both battle and what follows after. She asks him why he'd take on learning healing magic and seems pleased with the answer.
Now that Roxas has seen the circumstances of Vanitas' creation, he feels like he understands the other a little more. Van doesn't know how to feel about it.
