Those things are basically just a means to display the commitment to the world and to those that are closest to them, correct? So it's more for them than the actual people getting married isn't it?

I guess that's true. Wedding are all about two people showing everyone that their commitment is special. And then there's a great big party to celebrate that!

That's a pretty great reason to have a big celebration, right?
