( There is a difference between lost children and familiar faces, after all, and to Angela she's just spending time with someone she's met before. It isn't any attempt at demeaning him or treating him otherwise, honest. She'd run into a couple people who had been paralyzed as a result of their actions during intake and she's glad to see it hadn't affected them negatively in the longrun.
It's easy enough to find some empty seats away from the crowds once she has her food from the stall, setting it on the table between them to pick up a piece and chew on it thoughtfully. )
Perhaps that's so, but a little patience goes a long way with others. They'll leave you alone more successfully if you aren't picking fights with them. "Let it roll off your back" is the saying, I believe.
( All right, maybe she is being a little maternal. She doesn't mean to!! She doesn't want to see people getting so riled up by others— high blood pressure, etc. )
[ Of course Vanitas opts to give Angela a dubious look. People willing to leave him alone if he doesn't pick fights? He isn't the one starting anything here. They approach him when clearly he doesn't look even remotely approachable. ]
Patience isn't one of my strong points.
[ Which is both true and not so much. Vanitas can be very patient. It's only on matters of the heart - specifically trying to obtain a whole one - that he runs out of it. Of course people getting too friendly with him just... ]
I'm not in the business of making friends.
I slipped off on a trip to los angeles but I'm back! sorry for the wait
( She can take a dubious look; it earns an apologetic sort of amusement in return, knowing they likely won't see eye to eye on the subject, but at least she's nudging the cardboard boat closer in silent invitation to share the not-quite-takoyaki. )
While it may be a bit brusque, you can always just turn away or walk off. That doesn't require too much. I just wouldn't wish to see anything happen to you again; their form of punishment and peacekeeping may be harmless in the long run, but I'm sure it must be miserable.
We doctors don't have much tolerance for seeing others suffering, you know.
( Which is to say she's trying not to fuss over him too terribly, specifically, but that it's a general weakness of her own she offers up in a teasing little tone, self-deprecating. It's just an excuse she gives, of course, because she does care, even if they'd only met briefly. They have to keep an eye out for one another!! She's very insistent on the fact. But she tries not to lecture anyone and instead just wants to offer a place of peace, making herself a gentle deterrent. )
And if I said I simply hope for a familiar face to help me finish all this food?
( They don't have to be "friends". (They're totally friends.) )
[ Vanitas eyes the food and then Angela. He's only somewhat wary. There's no way she's done anything to the food. That doesn't mean the residents probably haven't laced it with something. For now he's going to watch her to make sure that's not the case before he takes something from it. ]
Never heard of a doctor. [ Just stating facts. ] It's also not the worst thing I've experienced.
[ He shrugs, just leaving that there for now. Vanitas is still irritated at all of this. The laughter. Merriment. Affection being on display for everyone to see... ]
Also I was trying to walk away. The idiot wouldn't let me. And I might eat something. Shortly.
( Well, she isn't hesitating to eat what she'd picked up, and thankfully nothing seems to be happening to her given the space of a few minutes for it to settle in her stomach. Eventually, at least, he's considering it. )
No...? Medics, perhaps? Healers? I use my knowledge of the human body to assist the injured. Specifically, I work around warzones to help those injured or caught in between the forces. I help evacuate dangerous places or give medicine to those who need it and have no access or money for it, and ensure others are cared for and back on their way to living their lives.
I know; I saw that you had tried. And take your time. I'm rather fond of people-watching, so I don't mind sitting here a while with some company.
( If he doesn't mind quiet company, neither does she. If he's all right sitting here with someone he can be relatively certain won't give him a hard time, then he's more than welcome to stay with her. )
[ After a few minutes of nothing happening to Angela he'll partake. ]
My master and the others use curative magic. [ Not him though. Vanitas doesn't know how. ] Why bother saving all those people. If they aren't strong enough to save themselves what's the point?
[ For once he doesn't say that in a nasty, bitter way. This is something he genuinely wishes to know. Vanitas has never heard of people going out of their way like that just to heal others. If people can behave that way, for strangers...
