Harvest Moon Simulator: Tree Edition

[ Vanitas finds himself out and about long after Sandalphon had "convinced" him to participate. If someone had thought to ask him if he'd be out planting trees and taking care of some of the other plants, Vanitas might have laughed at them. The only sort of "life" that he's ever "maintained" are the Unversed and one could hardly call them symbolic of new life. If anything they are kind of the opposite, created from darker emotions than what gardening seems to represent. He might even laugh because the thought of doing something so mundane and normal is a far cray from anything he's ever pictured himself doing.

However, things change. Being completed has done a lot of that, even if it hasn't been for overly long. Vanitas has also given much thought about what Sandalphon and Xigbar have spoken to him about. Trying new things. Seeing what he likes and doesn't like. Figuring out who he is now that his goal is complete and there's no Xehanort to pull the strings.

In that respect he's found that this task is something that's just that: a task. It's repetitive and doing things like pruning and dead-heading flowers takes focus, a sharp eye, and precision in some cases. Most importantly, it takes his thoughts away from the array of new emotions that he still has issues processing and understanding.

Vanitas pretty much minds his own business over the course of the days and can be found on both days working like this. The crowds don't even seem to bother him. As he moves about, some small Floods can be seen carrying the gardening tools behind him. ]

[ That's what he's telling one of the maidens at the shrine. The girl smiles in understanding but doesn't seem to be inclined to leave just yet. Vanitas snaps a little, asking what she wants. Instead of an actual answer, she simply drops one of those flower crowns up on top of his head. Vanitas is taken aback of course. ]

But I said I wasn't going to join your stupid little dancing audtion.

[ "That's okay" are the words that come out of the shrine maiden's mouth. She states that Vanitas looks like he needs them more than anyone auditioning and simply turns away to find someone else to volunteer. This leaves Vanitas staring after her. Blinking. Because what. ]

What just... Happened?

[ People confuse him so much. ]

Just Like Animals-Mals: Moon Shenanigans

[ Knowing that some people he is acquainted with, Vanitas is already looking to track some of them down. Mainly Ventus because the annoying pest is likely out there and affected. Of course Vanitas himself never thought to remove the bracelet, thinking that maybe he should hang onto it just in case. That puts him in a good position to:

A) Confront anyone that is Sanguis. Vanitas wonderfully provides a service that many effected by the red moon could take up: fighting. As he enjoys a good fight himself, Vanitas will helpfully step up to the plate and "help" work out any aggression that these individuals might need to alleviate.

B) Get caught by anyone that is Iris. In this scenario there's a good chance to catch Vanitas off guard by a random hug or help him get out of a situation in which he's being smothered by a Prismal that forgot to wear a bracelet or tossed it away. ]

[he... isn't sure if that's true or not, but better safe than sorry right? still ven frowns a little and goes to pick up the pack of seeds.] That sucks. What if you gave me a hint?

I know I've heard someone say that before.

[ Vanitas shrugs. he watches Ventus get the bag of seeds and waits for him to open it. ]

It should be obvious.

There's a lot of things you could wish for, you know...

[and one has already been granted to him. ven opens the bag and pours out a few seeds into his palm before letting them fall into the carved out hole in the earth.]

Are you curious about what I want to wish for?

Is there? I don't think so...

[ Since Vanitas isn't really the sort to want anything. Especially right now, given that he is still learning about himself. What could he wish for when he doesn't quite know what he wants and what he doesn't want. ]

You probably are going to wish for something sappy.

You could wish for unlimited chocolate or something simple like that. Or your helmet back.

[sometimes not every answer has to be layered in deep thought and consideration.

ven huffs, sticking his tongue out at van.] It is not sappy, so you're definitely wrong.

[ STICKING HIS TONGUE RIGHT BACK OUT AT VENTUS. ]

[ Flicks Ven's nose. ]

More like you aren't correct at all and my shoving you is proof of that.

[tweaks van's ear]

[ Ven is going to escalate? Fine. Vanitas grabs at Ven's face, chin resting between his thumb and index finger. Pulling him closer. ]

Is that what you call it? I thought it might have been a slight breeze with how much it actually managed to move me.

[that makes his face flush hot and he's left temporarily fumbling for a response.]

Don't- lie- [even if he knows despite all his worst traits vanitas has never actually been a liar before. ven's eyes widen and he suddenly leans in closer, almost brushing their lips together.]

I could move you easily if I wanted to.

[ His intention had been to make Ventus' blood run a little hotter. Maybe not in this way, but getting Ven worked up is usually pretty fun for Vanitas either way. So he just takes it one step further by tilting his head a bit. Allowing their breath to mingle. Warm and inviting. ]

Those are some pretty bold words.

[it's like a game of chicken only they're both gay and stupid. ventus frowns a little, almost a pout, when an idea comes to his head and he acts before he can really think it through. what is impulse control?

ventus shoves vanitas back against the ground, still keeping that small distance between their faces as he all but pins him to the grass. it looks like a compromising position to anyone passing by because it is one.]

Did that feel like a breeze to you this time?

"Ventus" is distinctly tied to "wind," idiot. Such as "Vanitas" is intrinsically tied to death.

[ It's weird to think that Van knows things like this but struggled to figure out how things like pants and certain types of clothing work.

That's not the important thing here. Vanitas is now on his back. Looking up at Ven. His smirk only grows into a feral grin. Sure, it's a compromising position. And since Ven's upped the ante, it means that Vantias is going to as well. He wraps his legs around Ven's waist. Now let people see them. ]

I'm sorry. I couldn't hear you over the wind's pathetic mewling.

[yeah that isn't lost on him at all.

being like this does make his face even hotter, but stubbornness keeps him from backing out now especially when vanitas was grinning at him like a cat ready to attack.]

Is that what you call this? [they're close enough now ven can almost taste vanitas on his lips, nearly kissing him right then and there.] I think you're full of shit.

Shut up. You enjoy it.

[ Vanitas can't help but wiggle his hips just a little. He has to one up Ventus. There's no backing down from the unspoken challenge. ]

Yeah, as much as I enjoy getting a tooth pulled.

[van can wiggle as much as he wants because in retaliation ven runs one of his free hands through dark hair. it's more gentle than van probably expects along with the small kiss ven presses to the corner of his lips.]

You know I'm right.

[darkcharge]

[ all of it is a little more gentle and far less heated than what Vanitas had come to expect. it throws him off for a moment, especially that little kiss. ]

If it's about as enjoyable as getting a tooth pulled you are free to leave.

[ven considers it for a moment and moves to kiss vanitas proper.]

I change my mind actually. It's not like that at all.

[ This is... Not what planting the tree is all about. They should probably get back to that. Or Van can just stare up at Ventus for a moment, processing. ]

Oh. [ Wait. What? ] Changing your mind pretty fast.

Because I realized I was wrong.

[it used to be something that was harder for him to admit and it still is even now, but it's gotten a little easier. even if it is laying in the dirt with limbs tangled under the open sky.

he brushes their noses together.]

Who are you and what have you done with Ventus?

[ Vanitas is only half joking here. He removes his legs from Ven's waist. Instead he holds the other and nudges their foreheads together as he goes to sit up. ]

It's not. Bad.

Oh you caught me. I'm the third half of Ventus named... Venitas.

[he sticks his tongue out at van even as they move to sit up, still keeping his arms wrapped around him. it doesn't last long before he laughs.]

No, it isn't... not too bad at all.

[darkcharge]

[ Ventus might think he is being clever, but it just makes Vanitas roll his eyes a little. Of course he doesn't mind the arms that continue to hold onto him, but the laughter does make Van cringe. Only a little.

All this merriment. Just because Ventus is what. Having fun? At Vanitas' expense or his own? Vanitas doubts that his company is that wonderful and yet Ventus is very clingy. ]

That was dumb and you should feel ashamed.

Why? Because it's a perfect combination of our names?

[his laughter does die down after a moment, leaving him smiling faintly. it feels nice, but it isn't perfect. he glances over to the unfinished planting, the seeds still uncovered and bare inside the hole vanitas had dug out.]
